About Spork

The problem

You're hungry. You open a restaurant app. Thirty minutes later you're still scrolling through star ratings, review essays, and "sponsored" picks, more overwhelmed than when you started. That's decision paralysis, and it ruins meals before they begin.

What Spork does

Spork is a restaurant finder that works differently. Instead of handing you a list of fifty options, Spork picks one restaurant for you. Tap a button, get a recommendation near your location, and go eat.

No reviews. No ratings. No ads. No infinite scrolling. Just a restaurant that matches where you are, what time it is, and what kind of food you're in the mood for.

How it picks restaurants

Spork uses OpenStreetMap as its base data source, a free, community-maintained map of the world. Every restaurant near you is scored using a combination of distance, cuisine type, time of day, and a "hidden gem" factor that favors unique local spots over chains. Spork learns your cuisine preferences over time and stores them locally on your device.

Privacy first

Your location is used in real time and never stored. No cookies, no cross-site tracking, no data selling. Your taste preferences and settings are stored locally in your browser and never leave your device.

Free forever

Spork is built on free, open-source data and infrastructure. There are no premium tiers, no in-app purchases, and no plans to add them.
